Pacific Renewable Fuels & Chemicals (PRFC) technology innovations
include next generation chemical processes and catalyst formulations that
allow for the economical and efficient production of fuels and chemicals.
Until now, thermochemical conversion processes for the production of
fuels or chemicals were used only at massive, multi-billion dollar plants.
PRFC’s process innovations and next generation catalysts have greatly
simplified both syngas, fuels and chemcials production and allow for economical
and efficient production at smaller, distributed plant scales.
Our process involves two simple steps. First, a synthesis gas (or “syngas”)
is produced. Syngas, which is a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen,
has the advantage that it can be produced from essentially any carbon
source using PRFC's partner technologies. Syngas is the perfect building
block for a variety of fuels and chemicals. Next, syngas is catalytically
converted to either a clean diesel fuel or sustainable chemicals using
our proprietary, patented catalyst formulations.
PRFC's technology innovations include:
Synergy™ Process: The Synergy™ Process
integrates either a thermochemical conversion process or gas reforming
process (see below) with PRFC’s Synergy™ Catalytic Reactor,
Adaptive Control System, catalysts, and other unit operations. Innovative
patent pending processes allow for efficient operation at smaller, distributed
scales.
Synergy™ Adaptive Control System (ACS):
The Synergy™ ACS is the brain of the integrated process, allowing
for minimal operator involvement and the ability to monitor plant productivity
real time from any location in the world. The Synergy™ ACS proactively
identifies problems with hardware so maintenance can be scheduled appropriately.
Furthermore, the Synergy™ ACS has features that allow operators
to maximize revenue by tailoring product output based on product market
prices and feedstock costs.
Terra™ Diesel Fuel Catalysts: Terra™ Diesel
Fuel Catalysts have been engineered to allow for the direct production
of a high quality diesel fuel while minimizing unwanted by-products. Terra™
Diesel Fuel is a direct petroleum replacement, with a high cetane value,
no sulfur, and excellent lubricity.
Ethos™ Chemicals Catalysts: The Ethos™ Chemicals
Catalysts have been engineered to produce a slate of high value chemicals.
Higher alcohols (C6+) that are produced using the Ethos™ catalysts
are used as ingredients in detergents, surfactants, solvents, fuel additives,
and a variety of other applications. Other derivations of the Ethos™
Chemicals Catalysts have been tailored to maximize olefin production or
paraffin wax production.
Thermochemical Conversion Technology: Through our partnership
with RLB Technologies, PRFC has integrated our Synergy™ technologies
with this industry leading gasification technology that dramatically reduces
capital and operating costs over traditional technologies.
Intellectual Property: The identification and protection
of Intellectual Property (IP) associated with our technologies is rigorous
and we benefit from world class patent attorneys and IP consultants. We
have adopted a robust approach to IP protection, including infringement
protection in key markets around the world. Our issued and pending patents
span a wide range of applications, with further patent applications under
development. PRFC partners with key customers and technology providers
to jointly develop intellectual property in the form of joint development
projects, joint ventures, and other business relationships.
